Hey all (this included ANYONE reading this post),
This is a cordial invitation to anyone who would like to join us. The Western NY portion of our infamous little band (Kristen, Heidi, and Ginny) are getting together at Houghton this Saturday to do our long run together. We'll be doing 8 miles, with one of us going on for a total of 12. Feel free to join us for a mile, 2 miles, 6 miles, whatever. We'd love the Houghton Homecoming company! I'd LOVE to!!! Gid will be camping with the boys this weekend, so I'm trying to work it out to come to Houghton w/ Keren. If it's possible for us to come up, can we crash w/ any of you?
We're about an hour from Houghton, but we have an air mattress! You're welcome here if it works out.

Thanks, Heidi, and OF COURSE, Kristin, you're both welcome here. We're in a basement and it's not too fancy, but one of you would have a bed and the other the couch or floor. Hope it works out!
I would be there but Shannon and I are leading a bike camp in Maryland for the weekend.
Gin, great picture. For a moment there I was worried because I thought maybe it was the one after our long run, drenched and proof of the shunderwear. You look like an add for Runner's World! Or iPod!
I wish I could join you but I'm just too far away. Another idea for letting alum in on the fun might be to create an event on facebook. Just an idea.

Well, I wanted to come so badly this weekend. However, after soccer games and football games, this mommy can't get away. I tried. I really did. Just know that I will be thinking of you on my 11 miles Saturday morning!

So, did you guys meet for a run this weekend???
No, crazy schedule on my end. And long weekend :( Worked on the cabin for long days, then got home Sunday night (actually Monday morning :) and said good bye to Brian for another year, then crashed. Literally slept for 13 hours yesterday... my body is fighting some horrible head cold - so needless to say, I didn't even DO the long run this weekend. Ugh! Feel horrible, but you do what you can, right? I'm going to hopefully try and do a 3 miler tonight with meds to get back into it (4 days without running feels absolutely crazy now!). I heard from several people though that Homecoming was a lot of fun - lots going on. Hope you enjoyed it, Ginny and maybe Heidi??
Oh, Kristen, I'm right there with you, girl! Although, different circumstances, I also missed my long run this weekend, actually most runs last week. And you're right, you do what you can. At this point, you're ready, we're all ready so it's just about maintaining and letting your body taper, heal & rest a bit before the big race. So, last week was a training disaster for me and while I'm a little sore still from doing too much during my parents move, I made myself get out and do 3 miles tonight (after the debate, of course!) It didn't feel good, I don't feel good now but I know I needed it and it will help me get back on track.
Side note: I've heard it's not unusual for you to experience strange aches & pains or even find yourself getting sick during the taper portion of training. It's completely normal as you allow your body some rest so don't beat yourself up about it. Rest, stretch, run when you can but don't overdo it. (This isn't an excuse to be lazy but you know what I mean!) Again, you're ready. Excellent work, ladies!
